The new ensemble brings several needed favorites, and they sre balanced by new and replacement civs that haven't left me disappointed (except maybe Canada, but then I may immigrate there some day, so I'll keep an open mind). This was not the case, for me, with Gathering Storm.

", which was rare before this expansion in Civ VI.Ĭivilizations: I honestly didn't know what to expect of the civ selections prior to the leak, because the last several announcements for Rise and Fall were truly underwhelming. The world feels real, diplomacy matters much more, resources are now handled more logically, and the new civilizations bring variety to how the game is played. Overall: This is the game it was meant to be. Overall, Civilization VI: Gathering Storm is a nice expansion and worth the extra cost. I think this is a huge improvement over the old mechanic, in which many times, you only had one field of the resource you need close, and the first possible field is miles away from you. The more fields you own, the faster this process goes. Instead of the need to own two or more resources to build a stronger unit, you can just have one tile and the resources will slowly increase.

They add new challenge to the game and let you think about the placement of your new cities, the need to build damns and the constant repairing of destroyed tiles because of a tornado or sandstorm. The disasters are cool but really frustrating at the same time. This expansion, Gathering Storm adds natural disasters, and a new mechanic to gather resources. There is some new and relaxing music, more factions and overall, it is a huge improvement over the previous game. It offers new mechanics, tons of stuff to do and build and a fresh new look over the older games. Go play another game.Civilization is one of my all-time favorite games, and the leap from the fifth to the sixth game is epic. To you, dear reader, looking to solve your multiplayer disconnect issues, let me save you some time. Do you want to spend 6 hours listening to Sean Bean narrate loading screens as you and your friends endlessly reload the game trying to fix disconnect and desync issues? Do you want to spend that 6 hours of frustration just to make it through 40 turns and abandon the game? Do you want the atrociously stupid AI to take over for you for half a turn only to walk your units to the edge of the map for no reason? Do you want to endlessly google hokum methods of fixing desync like running random sketchy powershell commands, setting up port forwarding, and sacrificing warriors in volcanoes, only to have none of those work? This game's multiplayer experience is a steaming hot pile of garbage that will leave you wanting to throw your router at Sid Meier himself. If you ever intend to play multiplayer, just pick another game and save yourself the frustration. If you intend to only play this game single player, pick it up, it's great, I've sunk hundreds of hours into single player and I love it.
